So, can you tell me a little bit about your yourself, uh, and your name? Uh, my name is Scott. I am a student here at Tru. Um, I’ve been rock climbing for about five or six years, something like that. Uh, can I ask you, like, it’d be a personal question. What ma what drove you to start rock doing rock climbing?

So I had a, a job working at a, a school in the outdoors. So we would run programming for the students at the school. So we would do things like kayaking. We would do like orienteering, we would do mountain biking and then we would do rock climbing as well. So basically as part of my job, I had to learn how to climb and then teach it to other people and like belay them, like control their ropes and everything like that.

Um, and then I just started doing it more and more and kind of fell in love with the sport after that. Amazing. That sounds like quite a like interesting topic. Uh, let me ask you something. You said you’ve been doing this for like five to six years. What is the thing that made you fall in love with Brooklyn?

Uh, if there’s one specific thing, I think that it’s a very unique sport. Like all of the sports, I I’m, I’ve quite an athletic history. Uh, I’ve always played sports throughout my life, but, um, in the past it was always like team sports. Like I’d play soccer or rugby or baseball or something like that. Um, and rock climbing is like entirely different.

A very interesting combination of like strength, but also like technique and like planning. And you have to be smart when you’re climbing up the wall and do it in like a, uh, precise way. Otherwise you’re gonna run out of energy. Um, it was just completely different than any of the sports I’ve played in the past.

And I really enjoyed it for that reason, I guess. Well, that sounds like you really enjoy climbing up the walls. Would you be so kind to share how it holiday at the outdoors and rock climbing? Yeah. And it’s usually like some piece of rock that someone has decided that is, uh, a good thing to climb. And they’ve told you like what level it is and how difficult and where you’re supposed to be climbing.

And yeah, and sometimes it’s a really good experience and it’s like a really great rockets. It’s not good at all, but it’s good. It’s really good. Uh, usually go to the rocket and that can be a bit of an adventure. Like sometimes it takes 10 minutes. Sometimes it takes like an hour and a half. You hang out there for a long time.

You’re not climbing the whole time, just on and off. And you, maybe you eat lunch and then you go home after like the points of view about these sports rock climbing and you’re going to like him or her bring them to this sport. How would you like prepare them or kind of like give them a glimpse of what the sport is?

Sure. I guess it depends on their comfort level at first, because some people rock climbing can be quite an intimidating sport. It’s uh, you know, as I mentioned, it can be a little bit dangerous at times. You’re, you know, by the very definition of it, you’re climbing up a big wall. And if you’re afraid of Heights, if you’re, you know, uh, you’re not comfortable in the outdoors, there’s always different factors to, to, to think about, um, So I would say that depending on your, your friend’s comfort level, you either bring them to an indoor climbing gym or you can go somewhere else.

But I think probably indoors is the, the best idea because it’s very controlled. Um, you don’t have to hike anywhere. You can just drive and talk to the instructor and it’s all very safe and controlled. Um, and then always you want to start them on the easy stuff. And then if they’re really good, if they’re really excited, they can move up really quickly.

But you always want to start at a low level because you don’t want to risk injuring yourself or trying anything too difficult to scare them off. Um, again, of course, if they’re really comfortable in the outdoors and they’re not afraid of Heights or anything like that, you can. Go outdoors as well, but you just have to make sure you’re starting off really slowly, starting off easily and making sure you’re being very careful with all the safety equipment and all the steps necessary to keep yourself safe.

I’m going to sing well. I think we covered all of it. Um, thank you for your time. It was very important information. I think it’s going to be amazing for people to hear about these interview. Uh, thank you very much for your time and talk to you soon.
